Bill, I'm looking forward to eating lunch with you on Monday. You are a model "pastor daddy" for our church family. I'm still digging deep into these things myself. We'll continue learning from each other.

BTW, you should check out my live blogs of the Connecting Church and Home conference. I really think those guys are on to something with respect to these issue. They are advocating a "faith-driven family" and a church that has a family equipping ministry that supports and upholds the children's/student ministry. Steve Wright and David Michael are both particularly brilliant. Hopefully, I'll have a review of Wright's book here soon too (but that means I have to finish reading it first).

Thanks for the summary and your insightful responses peppered throughout, Jared. I look very forward to seeing what you have to say about their chapter on children's ministry. I haven't read the book (for some reason, my local library doesn't carry books like this...), so I don't know the content. But you referenced it in your review on Baucham's Family Driven Faith, which caught my attention and I've been hoping since I read it the review that you would delve more into what TC has to say.

I have to say that I've been extremely interested lately in reorienting my view on training/discipling/pastoring my children, so both FDF and TC have been more prominent in my mind. I'm currently working through FDF and hope to get to TC (for both the children’s part and for other reasons) soon.

Anyway, that's way too much info, I know. I'm just saying I'm looking forward to you continuing to give insightful thoughts on what you're reading and how it relates to our kids. I'd love to get your full-orbed thoughts one of these days on how the primacy of dads training their children intersects specifically with kids’ classes/programs at Sojourn. But no hurry--I'm not going anywhere. ;-)
